A scuffle broke out on Tuesday between the two at a gathering of Pakistan’s Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) when the chairman, Mohammad Khan Sherani, called on the group to consider whether Ahmadis, who are declared non-Muslims by the constitution, should be considered murtads that have rejected Islam.
A declaration of apostasy by the constitutional body charged with advising parliament on lawmaking would likely put Ahmadis in even greater peril, given that many interpretations of Islamic law prescribe death for people who quit the religion.
Tahir Ashrafi, a liberal-minded voice on the CII, strongly opposed any discussion of the incendiary issue, prompting a furious confrontation with Sherani, who is also an elected member of parliament.
I wonder which Islamic doctrine these Muslims were following when they embrioled themselves in violence, in their Parliament no less, whilst trying to discuss the matter of putting into the constitution harsher laws on the ‘non-Muslim’ status of both Ahmadi movements.
Perhaps these Muslim clerics are unaware than even calling another Muslim a ‘kafir’ is stricly prohibited in Islam, let alone passing laws to do so.
Interestingly The Guardian goes on to say:
Pakistan’s 5 million Ahmadis already face considerable persecution because of their belief that the movement’s founder, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, was a messiah
For the sake of clarity it should be made clear that the Qadiani sect believe that Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was a Prophet, and even go so far as to claim that if he was not then no Prophet has ever come to this World.
This week we saw a program, broadcast in the UK on Channel 4, which showed the tragic story of a mother whose son embraced Islam and then misled by extremists went to Somalia to kill the non-believers. Four and a half years later he was killed when he and his companions tried to attack non-Muslims in Kenya.
We present an alternative narrative which shows that the Holy Quran’s command to conduct a jihad does not mean that a Muslim should go out and slaughter innocent non-Muslims. This is a reading of parts of the English translation of the Promised Messiah’s (as) book, “British Government and jihad”.
For over one hundred years the Lahore Ahmadiyya have been saying that it is unlawful for a married man to simply say the word divorce three times consecutively to affect a divorce from his wife. Our Sunni brothers have consistently rejected our interpretation until a few days ago when the Pakistan Council for Islamic Ideology finally recommended that the ‘three in one’ divorce is invalid and attempts to use it can be classified as a criminal offence.
Last year the Pakistani religious courts threw out a case of rape because the only evidence to support the case was DNA. We gave a Khutba (Friday Sermon) to prove that the court was wrong. Now the Pakistani Senate has passed a law admitting DNA into evidence in these cases.
It may be happening very slowly but our Sunni brothers (whether they admit it or not) are turning to our interpretation of Islam as their guidance.
In newspaper advertisements last week the Qadiani jamaat placed full page advertisements giving their beliefs. In those advertisements they clearly said the Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was a Reformer.
They did not mention their real beliefs that they believe him to be a Prophet and every person who recites the kalima but refuses to take an oath of allegiance on the hand of their khalifa is out of the fold of Islam.
In this video we will explain the real belief of the Qadiani Jamaat and provide evidence of what they are trying to hide from the mainstream.
And so much for the much publicised, so called, “tolerance” of the Sunnis about which we hear so much! Their definition appears to be that they should be allowed to do whatever they want to whomsoever and whatever they do is tolerant.
Police in Pakistan have forced a family of the Ahmadi sect to exhume the body of a relative because it was buried in a Muslim graveyard.
Officials in the Sargodha district of Punjab province say they took the unusual move after anti-Ahmadi Muslim groups threatened peace in the area.
The Sunnis say that Jihad in the sense of fighting non-Muslims is a fundamental duty of all Muslims. They accuse the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, of violating Islamic teaching by abrogating Jihad. The Promised Messiah did not do so. He said that it is true that Jihad is a fundamental duty of every Muslim but its true meaning is to exert oneself in support of Islam. This should be done, firstly, by non-violent means. Jihad, meaning armed struggle, is a duty only if restrictions are being placed on the Muslims in their religious observances or propagation. Interestingly, France has banned hijab which the Sunnis believe to be a fundamental part of Islam but yet no Sunni has declared jihad against the French!
In the link below, a fatwa by Dr Tahir Al Qadri echoes words of the Promised Messiah. He even says that terrorists are heretics. However, he needs to define terrorism and terrorist which he has not done. We also challenge him to say whether or not the Promised Messiah was right to condemn such actions.
It is easy to mock and to ridicule. This does not require any effort and does nothing for the propagation of Islam.
Our opponents have mocked and ridiculed us, like court jesters but what have they done to promote the image of Islam in the West or, indeed, anywhere in the world? The picture below seems to sum it up.
In his recent book the independent historian and scholar Eric Germain looks at the way The Ahmadiyya Movement, with few resources, devoted itself to the propagation of Islam. The question then arises : Why did we expend such effort for propagation of Islam if we are not Muslims?
Keep mocking, we do not care. We will keep working to bring the true message of Islam to the people.
