Christians Forget Their History of Violence

Arising from a discussion about whether Muslim Family Law should be incorporated in the British Family Law, on various forums some Christians started attacking the proposal by saying that Sharia is taking over and a takeover by a violent religion like Islam can be prevented. In this brief lecture we show that in one War, that is WW II, Christians killed more people than all the other religions put together over the centuries.

Christians upset about Preachers apparent claims on Allah

A short time ago a Malaysian court wrongly decided that Christians could not apply the name Allah to the Divine Being they worship. There were the usual shouts of ‘intolerant Islam’ in the Western media when this decision was handed down.

Just as recently an American Preacher, Brian Houston, caused great upset when he was deemed to have suggested that Muslims and Christians believe in the same God (Allah).

He said the following;

How do you view God in a desert? There’s two types of birds. There’s vultures, and there’s hummingbirds. One lives off dead carcasses, rotting meat.

The other lives off the beautiful, sweet, nectar in a particular flower, on a particular desert plant, in the same desert. They both find what they’re looking for.

Do you know—take it all the way back into the Old Testament—and the Muslim and you, we actually serve the same God. Allah, to a Muslim; to us, Abba Father, God.

But quickly attempted to clarify his position via Facebook and distanced himself from his original claim, and sought to appease Christians by saying that Muslims and Christians do not follow the same God.

This clarification by Mr Brian Houston however has still been met with distain in some quarters with suggestions that he is backtracking on his claim due to the backlash from Christians who are upset that he suggests they follow the same God as Muslims.

The website Uprising Ministries goes to great lengths breaking down the two statements from Mr Houston further condemning a man because he suggested that Christians believe in the same God as Muslims.

So my question is, where is the Media furore over this? Why has no media outlet in the West picked up on this story and run with how intolerant Christians are? I will leave you, the reader, to decide why.

Persecution of Christians Shames the Holy Prophet’s (pbuh) Legacy

I urge all Muslims to read this article by a Christian. A Christian who understands what the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) stood for, believed and preached.

The author asks:

How would Muhammad treat Christians around him? If he were alive today, what would he say about Muslims’ violence towards Christians in Egypt and elsewhere around the world?

And that is what we have to consider. How did our beloved prophet treat Christians, indeed all non-Muslims. The article tells us how.

A useful example to consider is the letter which Muhammad sent to Christian monks at St. Catherine’s in the Sinai, Egypt, in the year 628 AD. At the time, Christians sought refuge from persecution and violence, and Muhammad wrote a letter to the community to tell them that he would do everything in his power to secure their safety.

The vast majority of Muslims in the world say that we must follow the example of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and yet go on to behave in a way which is completely the opposite of what he taught and what he did.

And that was why the Messiah promised to the Muslim world had to appear – to take Muslims back to the real teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Pakistan’s Persecuted Christians

Forman is Pakistan’s leading Christian educational institution, now celebrating its 150th anniversary. Only 600 of its 6,000 students are Christian; what’s remarkable is how fully integrated into campus life they are.

Like many non-Christian Pakistanis, I owed my education to Christian teachers, both at Forman and at my previous school, Burn Hall in Abbottabad, which was run by Roman Catholic priests. We loved and respected our Christian teachers, and they us. We never doubted that harmony and cooperation between faith groups were not only possible, but also completely normal. It was the reality of our lives.

Times have changed. Today, Forman is an island of tranquillity for Christians in a troubled sea. With increasing frequency, Christians have been attacked and their churches vandalized.

Attacks on Christians in Pakistan have nothing to do with Islam or religious intolerance, for most people vie with each other to enter educational institutions run by Christians.

These attacks are caused by a general breakdown in law and order, growing resentment of poverty and American interference in Pakistan. If Pakistanis hated religion they would not have vied with one another for admission of their children into Christian educational institutions.

Allah in Bible likelier to bring Christians to Islam

The use of the word “Allah” by Christians to refer to their god does not cause Muslims to leave their faith, Muslim missionary Shah Kirit Kakulal Govindji has said amid fears of alleged proselytisation efforts by Christians.

Instead, Christians were more likelier to be converted to Islam after reading the Al-kitab, the Malay language Bible that contains the word “Allah”, claimed the chief preacher of the non-profit Islamic Information and Services Foundation (IIS).

Asked to comment on the widespread use of the word “Allah” by non-Christians in Muslim-majority Indonesia, Shah Kirit said that Malaysia did not necessarily have to follow Indonesia’s lead, noting that both countries have different customs

After the recent shock announcement by a court in Malaysia that Christians would be banned from using the word Allah to describe their supreme being, here we have a prominent Indonesian Muslim who believes that in fact it could help bring more Christians into the fold of Islam.

Violations against Christians in Pakistan soar

General Zia-ul-Haq, the late Military leader of Pakistan, in 1986, harshly amended the Blasphemy laws in Pakistan to such an extent that now Caththefire.com reports:

The Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child reports that as many as 2,000 girls and women from various minority sects have, through rape, torture and kidnapping, been forcibly converted to Islam; and in 2011 alone, 161 people were charged with “blasphemy.” According to reports, in 2009, eight Christians were burned to death in Pakistan’s province of Punjab after rumors spread of a desecration of the Quran.

In April, 2013, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom warned that the risk to Pakistan’s minorities has reached a crisis level. The Commission said that the blasphemy laws, and others, are used to violate religious freedoms and foster a climate of impunity.

Blasphemy laws are, at present, the most significant tool for persecution against the Christian community. These laws, however have also often been used to settle personal disputes or just to make Pakistan into a Christian-free state.

Is Pakistan the most dangerous country in the world to live in as a minority?

[Video] Muslims, Jews and Christians

The Holy Quran says says: “O you who believe, take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends of each other.” (5:51)

Our detractors say this shows that the Holy Quran commands us to discriminate against them. Even if we look at recent events they show the truth of this verse. The US army had admitted that parts of its manual are insulting to Muslims and Islam and such text will be removed. Are there any anti-Jewish passages in the US army manual? A survey in France has shown that Muslims are the most discriminated against and disadvantaged section of society. This is how Islam and Muslims are treated in two countries which pride themselves on being secular and separating religion and the state. We wonder what the state of Muslims sections is in those European countries which are officially Christian or Israel where Judaism is the state religion.

Christians ‘less devout’ than Muslims

Just one in three churchgoers “actively practises” their faith compared with more than two-thirds of Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists.

Christians are also less likely to say that their beliefs influence their everyday life, although they do affect the school to which they send their children.

The figures, published by the Office for National Statistics on Thursday, provide more evidence that Britain remains a Christian country but most of its residents do not feel the need to attend church regularly and prefer to keep their beliefs private.

Unconditional Obedience is due only to Allah

The Holy Quran tells us that to unquestioningly believe everything that the so called scholars and leaders, religious and others, is to equate them with the Divine Being.

Jews and Christians denied that they believe their religious leaders to be Divine. On this, The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) challenged these people and asked whether or not they unquestioningly accept whatever their religious leaders command. This he said was treating them like God.

I never really cared for Ahmadis

And yes, Ahmadis are worse off in Pakistan than Christians and Hindus. We want to forcibly convert Christians and Hindus. But Ahmadis shouldn’t exist. Period.
The Express Tribune

Some decent Pakistanis are ashamed of the way minorities, especially Ahmadis, are treated in Pakistan, some stay quiet for fear of retribution, whilst a few use their positions in society to try and educate people.

Here is an article by the TV and radio anchor Fasi Zaka which laments the lack of respect and concern shown by the majority community for minorities living in Pakistan.

Jews and Christians hate Muslims

A verse of the Holy Quran which warns Muslims about making friends with Jews and Christians was read out in a TV programme called the Big Question, in an attempt we assume to stoke up anti Islamic feelings.

The Holy Quran warns Muslims about making friends with Christians and Jews rather than Muslims.
