Sirat i Mustaqeem (The Straight Path)

July 26th, 2010

by Hazrat Amir Dr Abdul Karim Saeed Pasha

“Guide us on the Right Path” is a verse of the first chapter of the Holy Quran, Al Fatiha. This is preceded by attributes of Allah and is the first prayer found in the Holy Text. The straight path is the shortest path which leads man to Allah. The verses which follow asking Allah to save us from going astray like others. We always point to other people who went astray but these verses apply to Muslims also. So, it includes those Muslims who do not act in accordance with the injunctions of the Holy Quran as much as other nations who distorted and corrupted the teachings of their religion.

The verse says: Guide us on the Right Path. It uses the plural rather than the singular. So when saying this prayer one is not only praying for one’s self but for the whole humanity. Islam is the only religion whose most important prayer which is recited in every salaat has a supplication for the whole humanity. It is incumbent upon a Muslim to recite these words otherwise his prayer is incomplete.

Importance of time keeping

July 19th, 2010

The Holy Quran tells Muslims that times of the five daily prayers are fixed and that Muslim must pray at the fixed time.

The guidance in the Holy Quran is meant to allow us to practice what it teaches.

Praying at the correct time is meant to develop in us respect for time because once lost, it does not return. Yet, though we pray at the correct times Muslims are not punctual when it comes to doing other things. If obeying this command does not train us to do everything in our lives at the appointed time then we have missed an important lesson this verse teaches us.

The Holy Quran tells us that to unquestioningly believe everything that the so called scholars and leaders, religious and others, is to equate them with the Divine Being.

Jews and Christians denied that they believe their religious leaders to be Divine. On this, The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) challenged these people and asked whether or not they unquestioningly accept whatever their religious leaders command. This he said was treating them like God.

Praying during fighting

The high importance accorded to ritual worship and remembrance of Allah at all times is shown by this section of the Holy Quran.

Muslims are told that they can reduce the size of the ritual prayer when on a journey or fighting but they still must say the prayers.

They are also told that they must remember Allah at all times even when they are not engaged in ritual prayer.

This section of the Holy Quran also shows how brave and courageous the Holy Prophet Muhammed was. During fighting he would stand at the head of the soldiers lining up to pray making it obvious to the enemy who was the leader.

Barailvis’ turn to teachings of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad

June 11th, 2010

Fayuz Rehman is the Urdu translation of Ruh-ul-Biyaan, an Arabic commentary of the Holy Quran in about 20 volumes.
At the end of the first volume which contains a commentary on parts 1 and 2 of the Holy Quran the translator has added prophecies about the advent of the Holy Prophet Muhammad which are found in the Hindu, Buddhist and Zoroastrian scriptures, amongst others. He has done so to prove that people like Shri Krishan Maharaj, Shri Ramchandar Ji etc prophecied the advent of the Holy Prophet. But Sunni Muslims do not believe that these people were true Divine appointees.

That being the case there is no point in relating these prophecies to the Holy Prophet Muhammad’s prophethood. It was Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad who said that these people were all probably true prophets of God although their names are not mentioned in the Holy Quran. It then makes sense to quote them. Once again, one hundred years after his advent, Sunnis have chosen to follow the Promised Messiah.

Muslims kill their own brothers

May 30th, 2010

And so we bring shame upon ourselves once more.

In the breaking news on Friday, media outlets from around the world reported how Muslims had stormed two mosques in Pakistan armed with automatic machine guns and grenades.

These attacks took place during Friday prayers, in a co-ordinated attempt to murder as many of their fellow Muslims as possible.

Muslims killing Muslims under the veil of Islam.

“Muslims are savages, they stand up in unison to condemn pictures of their Holy Prophet, but sit silently whilst there fellow Muslims murder countless fellow human beings around the world.”

The above was posted a few months ago on a random forum. There is certainly some truth in the quote above. Where is the revolution? Why have we not brought down this violent minority? Do we really want to? Is our sacred religion so easy to twist that someone has justified to these gunmen, that it is their duty and in the name of Allah, that they murder fellow Muslims during Friday prayers?

Islam has become synonymous with terrorism in the 21st century, a new generation of hatred and fear has been bred. Any Muslim is seen as a viable threat and a new world of Big Brother has been ushered in by Governments trying to protect their citizens.

Muslims have truly changed the face of this world, for the worse.

The news broke only a few hours before our own Friday prayers in the UK, and our video below is a response to what happened.

Jihad

May 25th, 2010

Jihad…..The favourite word of the Western media used to describe acts of violence and terrorism by Islamic extremists.

Jihad….A favourite word used by so called Mullahs’ to attribute punishment against the West and Non Believers.

Jihad seems to have become the buzz word for ways to describe a negative with both the Western media and Muslims, but what does it actually mean? How should it be properly used?

The verse under consideration in our video speaks about jihad with one’s property and jihad with one’s person.
Therefore, jihad does not mean fighting for the sake of religion. On the contrary it means striving for the cause of one’s religion. This is an internal struggle as well as external. An internal struggle to purify one’s self and an external one to propagate Islam

Confronting Strangers During Conflict

May 18th, 2010

Sanctity of human life in Islam can be judged from the fact that even at time of war when faced with a stranger who uses the Islamic salutation, assalamu alaikum, one must not harm such a person but accept him as a Muslim and then check the truthfulness of the claim.

The investigation should be honest and not be tempered by the temptations of worldly gain. When the Pakistan government initiated an investigation into the beliefs of the Ahmadis it was not a time of conflict and it was not an honest investigation. It was tempered with the desire of worldly gain.

In case of our jamaat Mr Bhutto initially did not want us to be declared kafirs as well as the Qadianis. However, he relented after he was told that by including us with the Qadiani jamaat he will only lose a few thousand votes.

Eating Swine Flesh

May 13th, 2010

Science has now conclusively established that “we are what we eat”. By analysing the cell structure of a skeleton recently discovered in England, scientists will find out which part of Africa this person came from.

This they will be able to do so because of how cells of a body develop depends on what we eat.

Islam believes that this body is a shell for the soul just like an egg-shell is a shell for the egg-yoke etc..
If the egg-shell is treated in a certain way its contents develop into a chicken. We believe the same is true of the human soul. How the soul develops depends on what we do to its shell, the body, and how the body develops depends on what we eat.

In the above article we shot down the rubbish presented by Nicky Campbell in the BBC program the Big Question, and explained what the verse actually means.

Here we look at more translations of that verse, which The Big Question presented as “men are incharge of women”

We see that nine of them translate this verse, not as making men incharge of women, but making them responsible for their wives needs i.e. maintainers.

We also look at the actual Arabic word which means to create a balance. This verse creates a balance between the responsibilities and rights of husbands and wives.

Why did the Big Question use the one translation which shows Islam in a bad light?

Jews and Christians hate Muslims

March 22nd, 2010

A verse of the Holy Quran which warns Muslims about making friends with Jews and Christians was read out in a TV programme called the Big Question, in an attempt we assume to stoke up anti Islamic feelings.

The Holy Quran warns Muslims about making friends with Christians and Jews rather than Muslims.

This is not to be taken at an individual level but at national and political level. We have seen how Muslims were used by the Christians in the two World Wars and then, immediately after the Wars, Christian countries went on to make decisions which hurt the Muslims. Throughout history Jews have lived in peace in Islamic countries. They even migrated to these countries when persecuted in Christian countries. Allah wants us to depend on ourselves and not on other communities. This is the real spirit of these verses.

We discuss Chapter 5 Verse 51 in detail in the video below.

Women are subservient to Men

March 14th, 2010

In a Sunday morning TV programme in the UK, The Big Question, the presenter translated 4:34 of the Holy Quran as “Men are in-charge of women” whereas the correct translation is “Men are maintainers of women”.

We have checked a number of translations of the Holy Quran by Muslims and by non Muslims, and they all translate this verse as ‘Men are maintainers/providers/sustainers of women’. This includes translations of the Holy Quran by such critics as Rodwell and Sale.

It seems odd to ignore the translation by the majority and use the single translation which can be used to criticise islam, this is why Muslims accuse the Western media of being anti-Islam.

Our video discusses whether this verse means women are subservient to men and must obey them at all times.  It looks at the condition of women at the time of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and his companions and shows that Islam does not make women subservient to men.
