Ahmadiyya Anjuman Isha'at-e-Islam UK
January 6th 2008 Monthly meeting
Wembley, UK

On Sunday 6th January 2008 a meeting of the Ahmadiyya Anjuman Ishaat Islam Lahore (United Kingdom) held its first monthly meeting. It opened with prayers led by Mr Nasir Ahmad who asked the members to join him in the recitation of the last ten chapters of the Holy Quran. This was followed by the maghrib prayers. After the prayers Miss Habeeba Anwar LL.M., presented the key note speech entitled “Serious Thoughts About Our Future”.

In her address she dealt with the question of the end of the world and what we should do as Muslims. She explained that there was three kinds of end. First, end of a man’s life caused by death. Second, end of a nation and lastly the end of the whole world. She went through the signs which are meant to show that the end is coming. She quoted hadith (saying of the Holy Prophet Muhammad) and verses of the Holy Quran to show that the signs of the end of the world started with the passing away of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). She mentioned other more recent signs such as gathering of animals in zoos and reservations.

An interesting hadith mentioned that one of the signs of the last age is that “the slave girl shall bear the mistress”. Members of the audience interpreted this to apply to surrogacy. It was also pointed out that the sun uses fusion to generate heat and light and when hydrogen in the sun runs out, the world will come to an end.

The laws of thermodynamics also point to the same result. It states that Entropy (which may be regarded as negative of energy) of the universe is increasing so that when the entropy has maximised the world will come to an end. She ended by quoting a hadith which states that if a Muslim is planting a tree and sees the end of the world, he should carry on and try and finish his task.

Members were then treated to tea and snacks.
